COACH/TEACHER REFERENCES:
Emma is in her third year with us Fall 2025.  Fall 2024 we used her as a utility type player but in summer 2025 we were in a position where we had to create a full time SS.  Emma listened to coaching and had the athletic ability to perform incredibly well as a SS as well as 2B and 3B.  She has a strong arm, excellent lateral movement, and an incredibly fast release from multiple arm angles.  Offensively she has an excellent command of the strike zone and 62+ barrel velocity.  Entering Junior year, fall 2025, she continued to work hard in practice and performed better in our fall games.  She should play mostly left side of infield this summer 2026.
- Dave Prong, Stars Fastpitch 18u Head Coach

Let me start by saying that it is an honor for me to be asked to write this letter of recommendation for Emma LaBour. She showed up at the age of six to a winter tryout, and I was like this kid is a peanut! However following our first interaction I immediately knew she was a very special kid! From her personality, to her maturity, to her hustle, she immediately turned heads. This kid is one of the most coachable, hard-working, and dedicated kids I have ever coached. Her athleticism along
with her game IQ, and her ability to learn and apply skills is the very reason she always played up in age groups up throughout career with the Raiders Organization, and also the reason everyone we played tried to poach her. Emma was a true teammate, she always had this infectious smile and no matter the score she always gave 100% and you will never see her head down. She’s the first one to arrive at and the last to leave practice, and when she could she always took the time to stay and practice with the younger girls. The biggest challenge for me was figuring out where to play her on the field, she was our best 3rd baseman, SS, Centerfielder, and catcher. And although I know her goal is not to pitch, but she was my #2 in our rotation. During the 2024 season her arm led Midlakes to their best season record and first league championship in school history, and along the way she set several records. I know first- hand because I coach a High school team that faced her twice! She also set several records during her time with the raiders as well. As coaches we used to say “Man I wish we could clone this kid”. In summary, I can tell you that she will be an asset no matter where she plays. Her dream is to play softball, but I can say this kid is every bit as good at tennis, volleyball, and basketball.
- Geno Phillips, former Conklin Raiders National Gold Head Coach

It is my honor to write this letter of recommendation for Emma LaBour. I have had the privilege of getting to know Emma for over four years and coaching her for the past two years at the Varsity level. Emma is an outstanding softball player, student, and mentor who demonstrates a strong work ethic, great character, and dedication. It has been an absolute privilege to have Emma as a softball player because she consistently exhibits the traits of a highly successful individual. She was a member of our Varsity softball team as an 8th grader, 9th grader, and is currently the starting shortstop this season as a 10th grader. During my final season as Varsity head coach in 2024, as a freshman, Emma was the player who led every open gym workout over the winter. She started every game for us during both her 8th grade and freshman year and led us in several major categories, both offensively and defensively. Emma's “softball IQ” is off the charts, can play multiple defensive positions, bats in critical spots in the batting order, and is an excellent base runner. At the conclusion of her freshman season, Emma was selected as the Most Outstanding Player by her peers and coaches. In the classroom setting and the community, Emma is no different. She is a leader in our school district and our community. Emma has been on high honor roll, selected to National Junior Honor Society, and will presumably be selected to National Honor Society when eligible. She has volunteered her time at countless fundraisers, and youth developmental programs. Achieving academic excellence while carrying averages in the 90s, taking advanced placement and honors courses, and being a three-sport athlete goes to show the type of student-athlete Emma is. Emma's character traits and work ethic are consistent with what coaches at all levels are looking for. She has love and passion for the game and will always put forth her best effort. She continually seeks private lessons and practices in addition to her team practices. Frequently, she can be seen staying late after practice to continue to receive additional reps in the field or in the cage. Emma is the type of player that all coaches hope to have the opportunity to coach someday. Her work ethic, dedication, and success in the classroom sets her apart from others. In my opinion, Emma is the best all-around player that I had the opportunity to coach during my tenure as softball coach at Midlakes. I believe that Emma LaBour will be an outstanding asset to any college and their softball program.
